Klean Consulting's research & strategy practice builds the evidence that other decisions rest on, then turns it into a plan someone can follow. The work is used by public authorities setting direction, by operators assessing a market, and by investors testing a thesis.

Feedstock and Market Studies

How much material exists, where, in what composition, under whose control, and at what delivered cost. We combine physical characterisation from our waste audit practice with arisings data, trade flows and interview work. The output is a defensible quantity-and-quality picture with its uncertainty stated, which is what plant sizing and offtake negotiation actually require.

Technology Assessment

We scan available technologies against the client's feedstock and constraints rather than against a generic shortlist. Each option is assessed on demonstrated performance at the relevant scale, feedstock tolerance, emissions and residue profile, operating complexity, and supply-chain and spares exposure. Being part of Klean Industries means we can distinguish claimed from demonstrated performance in pyrolysis, gasification and thermal treatment with some confidence.

Policy and Regulatory Analysis

Current obligations, direction of travel, permitting pathways, extended producer responsibility, landfill and incineration controls, and the subsidy or carbon instruments in play. For cross-border work we map how the same project is treated under different regimes, because that often determines where it should sit.

Strategy and Sequencing

Findings become a sequenced plan: what to do first, what it costs, what it unlocks, what decision gate follows, and what would cause the plan to change. We write the triggers explicitly so the client knows when to revisit rather than discovering it late.

Method

Primary data where it can be obtained, secondary data with its source and vintage identified, and assumptions held in a visible register. Clients receive the model and the data, not only the narrative. When evidence is thin, we say where it is thin and what it would take to firm it up — and we are prepared to recommend a short measurement campaign before a large capital commitment.

Due Diligence Support

Investors, lenders and acquirers use our research practice to test the assumptions behind a transaction: feedstock security, offtake durability, permit standing, technology maturity and the credibility of the operating cost base. We report what the evidence supports and flag clearly where a vendor claim cannot be verified from available information.

Deliverables

Typical outputs include a data pack with sources and vintages identified, an assumptions register, a working model the client retains, and a concise findings document. We present to boards and investment committees where that helps, and we are comfortable defending the analysis under questioning.
